Overall bed is sturdy and good but it came with a broken peice one the board..otherwise would have rated higherGreat bed! Seems well constructed, solid and sturdy for something that came out of a box. We bought for a 2 year old and while it is a little high for him climbing into and out of by himself, he can do it (he's average height) and I can easily fit decent size baskets under the bed for more storage! The style is very classic and clean. The espresso color is very dark with 1 or 2 exceptions where the color is slightly lighter, as you may normally expect with stained wood. This worked well for us since I'd really wanted a black bed but that wasn't a color option.
