This bed is amazingly cute! It's sturdy and low enough to the ground that I don't feel like the 3 year old will have an issue falling. I did opposite of everyone else and put the mattress on the bottom. I used plywood on top with a rug over it to make a play space.Downside: these instructions are BAD. I mean, BAD. The parts are mislabeled in the very 1st step so when you get to step 4 or 5, you are screwed--at least *I* was when I tried to take apart step 1 and the screw stripped. Luckily my dad came over to get it out for me but it took some ingenuity. Other parts are mislabeled later and the order in which the front slats attach to make it look like a house caused the whole front to fall forward and the very unsupportive shallow dowels broke through the front panels and made it impossible to use. That's not a functionally needed part so I was fine to build the bed without it but buyer, beware. That step still WILL require more than 2 people because 4 hands aren't enough to stabilize while doing what needs to be done. All this to say, very happy with the final product. For me, it was worth the hassle.HELPFUL TIP: following the Exploded View from the 1st page is your best bet vs the labeled instructions when it comes to assessing the correct parts needed in each step.Ours is bigger than we expected really needs a good amount of space not to be super close to the ceiling fan not suited for a smaller room. Grandson loves the window on the top and the flower box on the bottom.Very intimidating to do. This took my husband and I about 12 hours smh. That is with breaks in between and also deviating from the directions only to build it wrong and have to fix our mistakes. You definitely benefit with 2 people. My husband did this 85 percent alone and once I helped him it was much easier.I am extremely pleased with our purchase. This is for my 7 and 3.5 year old and it is plenty of room to grow. We will have this at least another 3 to 5 years based on their current age. This bed can easily give you a 7 year lifespan. We are happyBoxes were damaged upon arrival so the paint is messed up in a few spots. Also more importantly is the screw holes are not pre drilled and when screwing into the end of the board with large screws it split the board. Poor design on the MFG's end. Took a few hours to assemble.TyMy daughter loves this bed so much and my husband and I got some good bonding time in for a couple of hours while we put it together! My daughters love itWhen I open the box there were too many items missing like no screws at all and others equipment for joining parts and no direction book. You see the upper bed yellow window no parts for that.
